Grief counselling in York and
online across the UK
Grief can feel overwhelming, confusing, and deeply isolating — especially when the world around you expects you to “be coping” or “moving on”.
I offer compassionate grief counselling in York and online across the UK, supporting people who are grieving the death of a loved one, living with anticipatory grief, or carrying loss that feels complex or hard to name. You don’t need to know what to say or where to start — we can begin wherever you are.
Grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and there is no right or wrong way to experience it. Therapy offers a calm, supportive space where your grief is met with care, understanding and respect
How grief can show up
Grief is not just sadness. It can include:
- Anxiety, panic or a sense of being on edge
- Numbness or feeling disconnected
- Guilt, anger or unresolved questions
- Physical exhaustion or overwhelm
- Grief resurfacing months or years later
Sometimes grief is linked to a recent loss. Sometimes it’s something you’ve carried quietly for a long time
My approach to grief counselling
Alongside private practice, I have experience working as a grief counsellor within a hospice setting, supporting people through bereavement, anticipatory grief and complex loss.
My approach is:
- Gentle and trauma-informed
- Led by your pace and needs
- Focused on creating emotional safety
- Free from pressure to “move on” or find meaning before you’re ready
We work with what feels present for you — whether that’s talking, sitting with emotion, or making sense of feelings that feel tangled or stuck
